Calcium Sulphate Dihydrate (Gypsum Powder) with purity 98–101% is a naturally occurring inorganic compound having the chemical formula CaSO₄·2H₂O. It appears as a fine, white to off-white odorless powder and is widely used across construction, pharmaceutical, food, and industrial applications.

This material is valued for its excellent binding, setting, and moisture-regulating properties. Upon controlled heating, it can partially lose water to form Plaster of Paris, which readily rehydrates and sets into a hard mass. Due to this reversible hydration property, gypsum is extensively used in molding, casting, and building materials such as wallboards and plasters.

In pharmaceuticals and food industries, it is used as a calcium supplement, excipient, and firming agent, while in agriculture it serves as a soil conditioner and fertilizer component. It is slightly soluble in water, chemically stable under normal conditions, and non-toxic, making it safe for handling with minimal precautions.

The product should be stored in a dry environment, as exposure to moisture may lead to caking or partial setting. Proper storage in sealed containers ensures a longer shelf life and maintains product quality.
