Calcium Fluoride 97% (CaF₂) is an inorganic compound commonly found in nature as the mineral fluorspar. It is typically supplied as a white to off-white fine powder, granules, or crystalline solid, depending on processing and grade. The material contains approximately 97% calcium fluoride, with the remaining portion consisting of inert impurities such as silica or calcium carbonate.

Calcium fluoride is insoluble in water and most organic solvents, but it dissolves in strong acids such as hydrochloric acid, where it can release hydrogen fluoride gas. It is chemically stable under normal conditions and exhibits high thermal stability, making it suitable for high-temperature applications.

This compound is widely used in the metallurgical industry as a flux in steel and aluminum production, where it helps lower melting points and remove impurities. It is also an important raw material in the manufacture of hydrofluoric acid, as well as in the production of optical components, glass, ceramics, and enamel coatings.
