Magnesium Carbonate Light

Magnesium Carbonate Light is a white, soft, and extremely light amorphous powder composed mainly of basic magnesium carbonate, typically represented as a mixture of magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, and water of hydration. It is characterized by its high porosity, low bulk density, and excellent absorbent properties, making it significantly lighter and more voluminous than heavy magnesium carbonate. The material is practically insoluble in water but readily dissolves in dilute acids with the evolution of carbon dioxide. Due to its mild alkaline nature, it is widely used as an antacid, adsorbent, and anti-caking agent. Magnesium carbonate light also serves as a filler and drying agent in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, rubber, and food industries. It is chemically stable under normal conditions but should be stored in a dry environment to prevent moisture uptake and maintain its free-flowing nature.
