Product Details
Calcium Hydroxide 95% (Ca(OH)₂), commonly known as slaked lime or hydrated lime, is an inorganic compound produced by the controlled hydration of calcium oxide (quicklime). It appears as a fine, white, odorless powder with strong alkaline properties.
This material is sparingly soluble in water, forming a clear, alkaline solution known as lime water, while excess forms a suspension called milk of lime. With a purity of approximately 95%, it is widely used across industrial, environmental, and construction applications.
Calcium hydroxide is commonly used in water and wastewater treatment, where it helps in pH adjustment, softening, and removal of impurities. It is also extensively used in the construction industry for mortar, plaster, and soil stabilization. In addition, it finds applications in sugar refining, flue gas treatment, agriculture, and chemical processing.
The compound is chemically stable under dry conditions but readily reacts with carbon dioxide from the air, forming calcium carbonate over time. Therefore, it should be stored in airtight containers in a cool, dry place to maintain its quality.
Due to its strong alkaline nature, calcium hydroxide can cause irritation to skin, eyes, and respiratory tract, and appropriate safety precautions should be followed during handling.
